Invasive Species Ireland

Invasive Species Ireland is a joint venture between the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and the National Parks and Wildlife Service to implement the recommendations of the 2004 Invasive Species Ireland Report.

Invasive Species Ireland has an excellent website where you can find information on a range of species, policy related to individual species or groups of species, and strategies to deal with species that threaten the biodiversity and economies of Ireland.

For Phase I of Invasive Species Ireland (2006-2009) the National Biodiversity Data Centre worked closely with the initiative to establish the National Invasive Species Database, which complemented the work being carried out by providing centralised up-to-date information on the distribution of invasive species in Ireland.

For Phase II (2010- 2013), the Data Centre has expanded its collaboration by becomming a project partner with responsibility for key outputs such as development of data sharing networks and monitoring systems.
