Step-by-step Guide
- Look at the species list and become familiar with their identification features.
- Download the Recording Card
- When you see one of these species complete the recording card
- Send the recording card(s) to the Data Centre or enter the information into the online submission form. If you have a large amount of records and/or previously digitised records then you can enter those records into Excel template and e-mail them to coflynn@biodiversityireland.ie.
All that is left is to get out and start recording!
Quality Assurance
To ensure that the records submitted are useful they need to be accurate so please take great care when identifying these species and entering the grid reference. Photos of the identifying features of a species can be submitted with your records.
What will happen to my records?
Once your records are received they will stored in a holding database. Records will be periodically reviewed and all validated records will be loaded onto the Data Centre’s mapping system. Please try to ensure that the information provided is accurate.
If you have any queries please contact Colette O’ Flynn by e-mail: coflynn@biodiversityireland.ie or by phone: + 353 (0) 51 306240.
This is an all-island survey so records from Northern Ireland are also wanted. This survey is carried-out in collaboration with CEDaR (Centre for Environmental Data and Recording in Northern Ireland).
